We respect your privacy. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in the way we handle personal information, and this policy explains how.
What personal information we collect
We collect only what we need to look after the Common and talk with the people who use it. Depending on how you deal with us, that may include:
your name, email address, phone number and postal address
details you give in a licence application, such as the activity or event you plan and your organisation
donation details, including the amount and the name you donate under, and any dedication for a memorial donation
the content of emails, enquiries and survey responses you send us
photos or video taken at events or on the reserve
information about how you use this website, such as your browser type and the pages you visit
We do not ask for sensitive information. Please do not include it in forms or emails unless it is needed for your enquiry.
How we collect it
We collect personal information when you sign up to our newsletter, make a donation, apply for a licence, email us, answer a survey, or take part in an event. Our website also collects some information automatically through cookies and similar tools.
Why we collect it and how we use it

respond to your questions and feedback
meet our obligations to NSW Government, funders, insurers and regulators
keep the website secure and understand how it is used
We only use your information for these purposes, or for a closely related purpose you would reasonably expect, unless you agree otherwise or the law requires or allows it.

We do not sell personal information. We may share it with:
our website host and payment provider, and its payment processing partners, to run the website and process donations

We do not store your credit card details. Card payments are handled by the payment provider.
Overseas storage
Some of the services we use, including Squarespace and our email platform, store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By using the website and these services, you understand your information may be handled overseas. We choose providers who have their own privacy and security commitments.
Cookies and website analytics
Our website is built on Squarespace. Squarespace uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, support the donation checkout, and give us basic analytics such as visit numbers and popular pages. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well.
Newsletters and direct marketing
We send newsletters only to people who have signed up. Each email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time by emailing info@dungogcommon.org. We follow the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
Donations
Donations support the upkeep of the Common. We keep a record of each donation for our accounts and to thank donors. If you give a memorial donation, we only publish a name or dedication with the permission of the donor and, where appropriate, the family.
Photos and recordings
We may take photos or video at events and working bees, and may use them on our website, newsletters or social media. If you do not want to appear, tell the photographer or email us and we will take down or avoid images where we reasonably can. Cameras and drones used for environmental monitoring, such as koala habitat surveys, are for wildlife and vegetation purposes only, we do not use them to identify visitors.
Keeping your information safe
We store information in password-protected systems and limit access to the people who need it. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, then securely delete or de-identify it.
If we become aware of a data breach likely to cause serious harm, we will act quickly to contain it and will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where required.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, by emailing info@dungogcommon.org. We may need to confirm who you are first. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
